Introduction

The Terminal Profile is as set of information the phone sends the UICC (e.g. the SIM), so the UICC knows what it can do on/using the phone (e.g. display text, send SMS, …).

Yet there is no public database of phone and their terminal profiles, and this project aims to correct this. Using SIMtrace you can record this information by monitoring the information between the phone and the UICC.

Terminal Profile

The APDU CAT (Card Application Toolkit) command used to send the terminal profile is defined in ETSI TS 102 221 §11.2.1. The command header is CLA=80 (for USIM)/CLA=A0 (for SIM), INS=10, P1=00, P2=00. The command body/data is defined in ETSI TS 102 223 §5.2.

SIMtrace

Here is a script that will automatically get the terminal profile data form the SIMtrace output and upload it to this database.
To use it, you need:

• a SIMtrace board and the bundled software
• start the script first. it will listen to the GSMTAP port
• start simtrace -i 127.0.0.1 (or whatever the IP of the machine with the script is), it will send the recorded traffic on the GSMTAP port
• the script will detect the terminal profile, decode it, and ask for the phone brand, model, TAC (first 8 digits of the IMEI), additional information, and upload it to this database once your agreed for these informations to be under CC-BY-SA
